Founded in 1905, Boar’s Head Brand® is a family business. Five generations ago, the company began with the belief that consumers deserved a better quality ham than what was available. Over the years, the company has grown. But, their standards for quality have never wavered – a value passed down from one family member to the next. As a family business, they choose to be devoted to their consumers, not stockholders. They choose to only bring to market products that they believe in, products that meet the standards set for them long ago. Boar’s Head Brand’s mission is to continue to be recognized as the leading provider of exceptional customer service and superior delicatessen products. They are committed to continuously improving their time-honored processes through the involvement of dedicated employees.
The Boar’s Head Brand Petersburg, VA facility has a robust Businesses for the Bay program focused on environmental education and employee engagement. To fully involve employees in the company’s environmental sustainability goals, they recently started an office Green Team and plan to hold quarterly meetings to discuss sustainability objectives, work on projects, and collect documentation. The Green Team plans to sign up for the Adopt-a-Highway VDOT program as well as organize and host at least one trash clean-up through the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay’s Project Clean Stream program. The Petersburg, VA Green Team also shares and discusses various environmental topics with all employees on a monthly basis, to help increase awareness about implementing conservation at home and create excitement around the facility’s environmental sustainability goals.
