Chesapeake Legal Alliance is a not for profit organization that provides pro bono legal assistance to those working to protect and restore the Chesapeake Bay and its lands, rivers and streams.
Through its network of volunteer attorneys, CLA empowers individuals, communities, large and small not for profit organizations, and coalitions, who otherwise would not be able to pursue or continue actions through courts and other legal tribunals or navigate legislative and administrative processes.
Examples of CLA assistance include permit enforcement, contaminated site clean up actions, zoning hearings, legislation, regulatory comments, advocacy strategy, administrative appeals, and many other areas where legal counsel can make a difference in community health and organizational mission support.
The work of CLA’s volunteer attorneys are contributing to progress being made towards a clean and healthy Chesapeake Bay supporting healthy communities, wildlife habitat, and local and regional economies.
